President Bola Tinubu has requested the National Assembly to consider 1.481 trillion naira as the budget of Rivers State for this year.
Tinubu, in a letter to the two chambers of the Federal Legislature, explained that the request followed the nullification by the Supreme Court of the earlier budget passed by three members of the then State House of Assembly loyal to suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The President added that the emergency rule in the state informed his decision.
The President said that 324 billion naira of the total amount would be spent on infrastructure; 166 billion naira, health; 75.6 billion naira, education; and 31.4 billion naira, agriculture.
He noted that by the provisions of the budget, agriculture is expected to generate about 6,000 jobs.
