Iran Fires 100 Drones at Israel in Retaliation as Tensions Escalate

On the foreign scene, Israel’s military has announced that Iran launched approximately 100 drones towards its territory, in what appears to be retaliation for a major overnight Israeli strike on Iranian soil.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials, including the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami, along with other senior military leaders.

The IDF confirmed that residential areas in Tehran were hit during the assault, with civilians, including children, reportedly among the casualties.

In response to the heightened hostilities, Israel has declared a state of emergency, warning of imminent counter-attacks from Iranian forces and allied groups. The situation has further fuelled fears of a wider regional conflict, as international calls for de-escalation intensify.
