Atiku, Governor Alia Condemn Deadly Yelwata Attack, Demand Justice

Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the recent deadly attack in Yelwata, Benue State, describing it as another grim reminder of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

In a statement on his X account, Atiku mourned the lives lost and called on Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable. He urged the Federal Government and Benue State authorities to conduct a prompt and transparent investigation, insisting that the attackers must be identified and brought to justice. He also advocated for dialogue involving affected communities, traditional leaders, and civil society to rebuild trust and ensure long-term peace.

Meanwhile, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, also condemned the attack, which left many feared dead. He described the killing of innocent citizens by suspected herders as unjustifiable, stating that no grievance could justify the taking of lives.
