President Bola Tinubu has issued a firm directive to Nigeria’s security chiefs, instructing them to act swiftly in restoring peace and security in violence-affected areas, particularly in Benue State.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also mandated Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, to urgently convene reconciliation meetings involving farmers, herders, and local communities. The aim, according to Tinubu, is to end the recurring violence and promote peaceful coexistence in the state.
Describing the ongoing killings as “inhuman and anti-progress,” the President condemned the loss of lives and called on political and community leaders to avoid inflammatory comments or actions that could escalate tensions.
President Tinubu emphasised the importance of dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders to break the cycle of violence and restore lasting peace in the region.
