Iran Condemns U.S. Strikes on Nuclear Sites, Vows to Defend Sovereignty

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has strongly condemned the recent U.S. attacks on key nuclear facilities in the country, describing them as “outrageous” and “criminal.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Araghchi stated that the attacks constituted “lawless and criminal behaviour” and warned of serious repercussions. “The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” he wrote.

He further asserted Iran’s right to defend itself under international law. “In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” Araghchi added.

Tensions between Iran and the United States have spiked following the strikes, raising fears of a wider escalation in the already volatile region.
