Rishi Sunak condemned the attacks by Hamas militants on Israel as he arrived in Tel Aviv for a two-day visit.
Speaking as his plane touched down, Mr Sunak said: “You have suffered an unspeakable, horrific act of terrorism and I want you to know that the United Kingdom and I stand with you.”
Although Egypt has allowed an aid convoy of 20 vehicles to cross the Rafah border crossing, Israeli airstrikes have continued to rain down across Gaza with western leaders warning against the targeting of civilians in Gaza.
Over 3,400 people are thought to have been killed and at least 12,000 injured by Israeli attacks, Gaza’s Health Ministry has said.
Some 471 people were also killed following an explosion at a Gaza hospital, although Israel has claimed it is only targeting Hamas held areas and denied responsibility for the blast.
During a visit on Wednesday, Joe Biden backed Israel’s claim that the deadly blast at the al-Ahli Hospital was a result of a misfired Palestinian rocket after securing the passage of aid into Gaza.
Rishi Sunak has met with Benjamin Netanyahu after touching down in Tel Aviv on Thursday morning.
The Prime Minister is set to travel to a host of capitals across the region as part of his two-day trip.
Speaking to the Israeli President, Mr Sunak said: “Palestinians are victims of what Hamas has done and it’s important that we continue to provide humanitarian access.”
Humza Yousaf’s brother-in-law has refused to leave his post as a doctor in Gaza because people “need me”.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Scotland’s First Minister shared a video of bloodied children being treated by medical personnel.
He wrote: “My brother-in-law, a doctor in Gaza, is spending his seventh consecutive day in hospital. Nadia spoke to him & said he should go home to rest, his response: ‘I can’t leave my people when they need me’.
“Health workers in Gaza are heroes.”
Israeli airstrikes continued on Gaza overnight with pictures showing Palestinians desperately searching the through rubble to find any survivors.
