President Tinubu is set to unveil Nigeria’s groundbreaking electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System (e-CRVS) on Wednesday, November 8.
This initiative, a National Population Commission project, has been developed in collaboration with UNICEF and Barnksforte Technologies Ltd.
Notably, this project operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework and received one of the final approvals during the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, confirmed during the Federal Executive Council meeting on May 15, 2023.
The e-CRVS system is poised to revolutionize the civil registration landscape in Nigeria, offering an advanced and digitalized approach to vital statistics collection and management.
The new system is expected to streamline and enhance the recording of vital events such as births, deaths, marriages, and other significant life occurrences.
A statement from the federal government noted that:
”The collaborative effort between the National Population Commission, UNICEF, and Barnksforte Technologies Ltd signifies a critical advancement in leveraging technology to ensure more efficient and accurate civil registration.
”This modern system is anticipated to bolster national databases, improving accuracy, accessibility, and transparency in maintaining vital records nationwide.
”President Tinubu’s inauguration of this innovative e-CRVS system underscores a significant step toward modernizing and digitizing Nigeria’s civil registration process, fostering a more robust and technologically advanced infrastructure for capturing and managing essential life events.”
