Kogi Gov Ododo makes first appointments

On his first day of office, the newly sworn-in Kogi Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has appointed cabinet members and other key aides.

He announced that the nomination of some commissioners would be forwarded to the Assembly for prompt confirmation as members of the State Executive Council (SEC) during his inaugural speech. 

Usman Ododo was sworn in as the 5th elected Kogi Governor on Saturday afternoon.

Most of the Commissioner-nominees were from immediate past administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

Among them are Folashade Ayoade Arike, Kingsley Fanwo, Deedat Salami Ozigi, the former SSG and several assistants named  with immediate effect.

Among those he appointed is Ali Bello who will serve as Chief of Staff.

The governor also named other key government officials to include Folashade Ayodele Arike as Secretary to state government, Hilary Ojoma Deputy chief of staff, Elijah Evinemi Head of service, Jerry Omodara State security adviser, Isah Ismail Special adviser on media, Sulaiman Ibrahim Director-general protocol.

Other appointees who also mostly served in the former governor’s cabinet are Farouk Danlami, Salami Ozigi-Deedat, Basiru Abubakar, Adams Abdulaziz, Joseph Oluwaseun, Muzi Yinusa Abdullahi, Wemi Jonze, Rabiatu Okute, Fanwo Kingsley, Fatima Momoh, Mohammed Yusuf, Timothy Ojoma, Sunday Faleke, Abanika Taye, Asiwaju Idris Asiru, and Mohammed Adbulmutalib.

When confirmed by the state assembly, they will serve as Commissioners.
