Veteran Singer Onyeka Onwenu, Dead at 72

The Nigerian music industry and the nation as a whole are in mourning following the tragic death of legendary singer and songwriter Onyeka Onwenu.

The Singer/Songwriter, Actress, Broadcaster, Social Commentator, and Politician, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2023, after collapsing following a performance at the birthday celebration of the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Stella Okoli, in the heart of Victoria Island, Lagos.

Sadly, despite immediate efforts to rush her to the Reddington Hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
