Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, popularly known as Beyoncé has made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards again, securing 11 nominations and winning two awards, bringing her career total to an unprecedented 34 Grammys.
In a groundbreaking achievement, she became the first Black woman to win the Best Country Album award for Cowboy Carter.
The award was presented by Taylor Swift, marking a milestone moment for both Beyoncé and the country music genre. Taking the stage in disbelief, Beyoncé said that she was not expecting the award. She however thanked God for being able to still do what she loves after so many years.
Meanwhile, Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, outshone her compatriots Davido, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Wizkid and Asake, to clinch the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammys on Sunday. Tems’ hit song ‘Love Me Jeje’ emerged victorious over “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade); “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid); “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay); and “Higher” (Burna Boy).
