The Accountant General of the Federation (AGOF), Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, has announced that the government will no longer take responsibility for states’ unpaid liabilities.
Madein made the announcement during her visit to the Federal Pay Office in Kano.
In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, the AGOF urged states to block revenue leakages and improve their revenue generation, as the federal government would no longer allow itself to be overburdened by unpaid liabilities.
She also stressed the need for financial discipline and directed Federal Pay Officers (FPOs) to ensure that ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) complied with the government’s public financial management reform initiatives.
