President Bola Tinubu says his administration is determined to bequeath a well-trained, well-motivated and well-equipped Police Force whose operations are enhanced by modern tools and technology to combat crime in Nigeria effectively.
He said this had become necessary to ensure that the nation’s security forces are constantly steps ahead of those who threaten the peace, welfare, and prosperity of the nation.
Tinubu said this when he appeared as Special Guest of Honour at the maiden edition of the National Police Day celebrations in Abuja.
The President, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, also formally announced the institutionalisation of April 7 annually as National Police Day to honour the force’s fallen heroes and acknowledge the heroics of its personnel.
Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha, revealed details of the event in a statement he signed.
The President outlined decisive measures his administration is currently taking to immediately engender an effective and formidable police force.
