FG to Begin Payment of ₦35,000 Wage Award Arrears to Civil Servants

The Federal Government has announced plans to commence payment of the outstanding ₦35,000 wage award arrears owed to federal civil servants.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) on Monday, Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, confirmed that the arrears would be paid in five monthly instalments. Each worker will receive ₦35,000 per month.

“The wage award arrears would not be paid with the April 2025 salary; it will come immediately after the salary is paid,” the statement clarified.

Previously, wage awards were paid for five months as part of efforts to cushion the effects of ongoing economic reforms. However, five months’ arrears had remained outstanding.

The OAGF assured that the government remains committed to fully implementing policies and agreements concerning civil servants’ welfare to improve productivity and efficiency across ministries, departments, and agencies.
