President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed new members to the governing councils of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka.
In February, President Tinubu dissolved the governing council of the University of Abuja and sacked the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Aisha Maikudi, amid controversy over her eligibility.
According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, the new governing council members for UNIABUJA are:
- Professor Rosemary Egonmwan – South-South
- Dr. Adedeji Adefuye – South-West
- Professor Sarki Abdulkadir – North-West
- Professor Aminu Dukku – North-East
The statement added that President Tinubu also filled vacancies in the governing councils of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka.
The new members appointed for UNN are:
- Ogbonna Odo – South-East
- Muhammad Tahir – North-West
