The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of ₦44,000 in minimum wage arrears to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), fulfilling a pledge linked to the recent increment in corps members’ monthly allowance.
The arrears are being paid to corps members who completed their service before the revised allowance of ₦77,000—up from ₦33,000—took effect earlier this year.
Several former corps members confirmed receipt of the payment via posts on X (formerly Twitter), with many expressing gratitude and relief at the fulfilment of the government’s promise.
