Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to declare open a three-day national summit on nutrition and food security scheduled to commence on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The summit, themed “Curbing Malnutrition and Food Insecurity Through Effective Synergy,” is being organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Nutrition and Food Security. It will run from Monday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Chairman of the committee, Chike Okafor, revealed the details during a pre-summit media briefing in the Federal Capital Territory, noting that the summit is aimed at fostering coordinated efforts among stakeholders to tackle rising levels of malnutrition and food insecurity in Nigeria.
Expected participants include the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State; members of the National Assembly; and representatives from key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), among others.
The summit will explore actionable strategies to enhance collaboration, improve policy execution, and drive sustainable solutions in the fight against hunger and malnutrition across the country.
