Amotekun Dismisses Six Female Recruits Over Pregnancy

The Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, has dismissed six female recruits in Ondo State for becoming pregnant during their training period.

Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the dismissal while addressing journalists on Wednesday. He explained that the recruits violated the operational guidelines which prohibit pregnancy during the mandatory training and probation period.

Adeleye stated that the rule was clearly communicated to all recruits upon admission into the corps and is intended to ensure full participation in the rigorous physical training required for the job.

He added that the decision was not targeted at women but was in line with professional standards for security agencies. According to him, the affected individuals may reapply after delivery and proper recovery, subject to medical fitness and compliance with recruitment conditions.
