Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has officially inaugurated the 10.4-kilometre Idoro (Uyo) – Ukpom (Abak) Road project, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing all inherited projects and accelerating rural development across the state.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Eno noted that the project, which was initiated by the immediate past administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, aligns with his campaign promise to deliver quality infrastructure that will link rural communities to urban centres and stimulate economic and agricultural growth.
The governor described the road construction as “challenging but rewarding,” expressing satisfaction at its successful completion. He lauded the efforts of the contractor and the Commissioner for Works, describing the outcome as a “job well done.”
Reiterating his commitment to bridging the development gap between rural and urban communities, Governor Eno pledged to keep connecting “the centre of Akwa Ibom to the centre in Abuja.” He also announced plans to establish youth-friendly centres in all local government areas of the state, aimed at empowering young people.
Governor Eno further acknowledged the role of President Bola Tinubu in facilitating the project, stating that the release of funds by the federal government significantly supported the completion of the road. He commended President Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms and assured that Akwa Ibom would continue to benefit from the current political structure.
Stakeholders from Uyo and Abak local government areas, who were present at the event, commended Governor Eno for his people-centred leadership and pledged their unwavering support to his administration.
Government House Correspondent, Jane Uwa, reports that the newly inaugurated road is expected to enhance mobility, improve trade routes, and serve as a catalyst for socio-economic development in the region.
