Akwa Ibom CP Presents N37.2 Million Cheques to Families of Fallen Officers, Parades Recovered Stolen Items

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, on Wednesday presented cheques totalling ₦37,280,296.36 to 34 families of police officers who died in active service.

The presentation, which was made on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, took place at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia. The event was witnessed by senior police officers, families of the deceased officers, and members of the press.

In his remarks, CP Azare stated that the cheques were issued in recognition of the sacrifices made by the late officers while serving the nation. He assured the families that the Police Force would uphold the legacy of the fallen officers and continue to support their dependents. He also prayed for the eternal rest of the deceased.

In a related development, the Police Commissioner called on members of the public to visit the State Command at Ikot Akpan Abia for identification and collection of stolen items recently recovered by operatives of the Command.

While taking journalists on a tour of the recovered items, CP Azare displayed various household appliances including generators, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and sound systems. He attributed the success of the operation to timely intelligence and commended residents for sharing useful information with the police.

He urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies to ensure a safer society.

The day’s events concluded with a courtesy visit by members of the National Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (NARPON). The Commissioner of Police welcomed the association and promised to address their concerns regarding the welfare of retired officers.
