Modern Feminism Now Borders on Criminality – Jim Iyke

Popular Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has sparked conversation with his recent remarks on the state of modern feminism, suggesting that the movement has derailed from its original purpose and now borders on criminality.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actor acknowledged that the early feminist movement served an important purpose by confronting patriarchy and addressing legitimate issues of gender imbalance. However, he argued that the current wave of feminism has taken a different, and in his view, unhealthy turn.

Jim Iyke expressed concern that modern feminism has evolved into what he described as a “distorted ideology,” one that fuels unnecessary rivalry between men and women rather than promoting mutual understanding and collaboration.

According to him, the movement now tends to operate with double standards, encouraging women to demand equality only when it suits them, while rejecting responsibilities that come with it. He emphasised the need for a more natural and balanced approach to gender relations, rather than what he termed a “two-faced” system that hinders genuine progress.

His comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising his candour and others accusing him of misunderstanding the complexities of modern gender advocacy.
