Nigeria’s Non-Oil Exports Hit $3.225bn in First Half of 2025 — NEPC

Nigeria’s non-oil export earnings rose to $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025, representing a 19.59 per cent increase compared to the $2.696 billion recorded in the same period of 2024.

The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni, disclosed this in Abuja while presenting the council’s First Half-Year Progress Report on the country’s non-oil export performance.

According to Ayeni, shipment volume also grew from 3.83 million metric tonnes in the first half of 2024 to 4.04 million metric tonnes in the same period of 2025. She attributed the growth to robust global demand for Nigerian products, particularly from emerging markets such as India, Brazil, Vietnam, and other African countries.

“The report gives a detailed assessment of our progress so far this year, the challenges we have faced, and the opportunities ahead,” Ayeni said.

She noted that the performance underscores the increasing diversification of Nigeria’s export base beyond crude oil, with agricultural commodities, semi-processed goods, and manufactured products gaining more traction in international markets.

The NEPC boss expressed optimism that with sustained policy support, improved logistics, and strategic market expansion, Nigeria’s non-oil exports would record even stronger growth in the second half of the year.
