Akwa Ibom Government Revokes Land Allocations, Orders Revalidation

The Akwa Ibom State Government has revoked all land allocations made between 29 May 2023 and 25 August 2025, including those on government-acquired lands.

In a statement on Monday, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Essien Udom, SAN, said the move is to pave the way for the revalidation of land allocations and the full migration to the new digital Akwa-GIS platform.

During the transition period, all fresh allocations and land transactions will be suspended for one month, while the Directorate of Land will remain closed. The revalidation exercise, to be conducted by the GIS office in the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning, will last for two months.

The government further warned that any land allocation or interest not revalidated within the stipulated timeframe will be declared invalid.
