The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern part of the country.
The decision was taken on Monday during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, where party leaders also resolved that the position of National Chairman would remain in the North.
The NEC further affirmed Umar Damagum as National Chairman. Damagum had been serving in an acting capacity since March 2023 following the suspension of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, a decision later upheld by a court.
Before his elevation, Damagum was the PDP National Deputy Chairman (North).
