Vietnam Orders Mass Evacuation as Typhoon Kajiki Approaches

Vietnam has ordered the evacuation of about 500,000 people from coastal areas along the South China Sea as the country braces for the impact of Typhoon Kajiki.

Authorities have also shut down airports and schools, while coastal provinces have banned ships from going out to sea and recalled those already offshore.

The government has warned that the typhoon is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides.

The development comes just a year after Typhoon Yagi struck the region in 2024, killing around 300 people and causing property damage estimated at 3.3 billion dollars.
