Rome, Italy – October 13, 2025
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has revealed that he recently embarked on a pilgrimage to Rome, offering prayers for Nigeria amid the country’s mounting political, economic, and social challenges.
Obi made this known in a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, where he urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and united despite the nation’s ongoing difficulties.
“During my recent pilgrimage to Rome, I took Nigeria’s situation to God in prayer,” the Anambra-born politician wrote. “I prayed for our beloved country, for peace, unity, and above all, for leaders who will govern with responsibility, compassion, and a clear sense of purpose.”
Obi, who has remained vocal on issues of governance and accountability since the 2023 elections, encouraged citizens not to lose faith, stressing the need for collective resilience and moral leadership to navigate the current national crisis.
His message comes at a time when Nigeria continues to face rising inflation, insecurity, and public discontent over governance and economic reforms.
