Reality TV star and beauty entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed why she chose Lagos, Nigeria, as the location for her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers completed in 24 hours.
Speaking during a conversation with social media influencer Egungun at the Tacha Beauty Festival, the former Big Brother Naija housemate said her decision was driven by a passion to spotlight Nigeria’s creative energy and entrepreneurial talent, particularly within the beauty industry.
“This is bigger than just setting a record,” Tacha said. “It’s about showing the world what Nigeria is capable of — our creativity, our resilience, and the booming potential of our beauty industry.”
The 24-hour record attempt began on Saturday night in Lagos, with Tacha aiming to complete 150 makeovers. By Sunday morning, she had already achieved 115 within just 12 hours — surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 113 makeovers in 24 hours.
The event drew beauty enthusiasts, influencers, and industry professionals, and served as a celebration of innovation and empowerment in Nigeria’s cosmetics sector.
Tacha’s bold move to attempt the record on home soil has earned widespread praise from fans and industry stakeholders alike, who see it as a powerful message of national pride and confidence in local talent.
