The Israeli military has confirmed that the bodies of four more deceased hostages have been handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza.
According to reports, the remains will now be transferred to Israeli forces operating within the territory. The identities of the deceased have not yet been publicly disclosed.
The development comes amid heightened tensions and a deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as Israel has reportedly decided not to reopen the Rafah border crossing with Egypt today. Additionally, authorities are expected to further reduce the flow of humanitarian aid into the enclave.
The Rafah crossing has served as a critical entry point for food, medical supplies, and emergency relief, and its closure is likely to worsen conditions for civilians in the territory.
Israeli officials have not issued a formal statement explaining the decision to limit aid or keep the border closed, but it follows intensified military operations and ongoing negotiations involving regional and international actors.
The Red Cross has yet to comment on the latest transfer of bodies or the conditions under which the handover took place.
