Uyo, Akwa Ibom — October 15, 2025
The Council of Methodist Knights and the Ladies of Knights of the Methodist Church Nigeria have announced plans to host their 24th Annual Conference and General Meeting, alongside the 12th Assembly of the Ladies of Knights, from Thursday, October 16 to Sunday, October 19, 2025.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Immanuel Methodist Cathedral, Itiam Etoi, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
In a joint statement signed by the Chairman of the Uyo Council of Knights, Sir Victor Etefia (KJW), and the Chairman of the Conference Local Organizing Committee, Sir Ime Inyang, the Council emphasized its commitment to Christian discipline, moral leadership, and community service. As the lay arm of the Methodist Church Nigeria, the Council works closely with the Ladies of Knights to support the Church’s programmes in education, healthcare, evangelism, welfare, and empowerment.
Themed “Methodists Arise: Knights as Vessels for Service and Impact,” this year’s conference promises a blend of worship, leadership renewal, spiritual reflection, and recognition of excellence in Christian service.
Activities will begin on Thursday, October 16, with a Welcome Service at the Cathedral to be led by The Most Reverend John Ene Coco-Bassey, Archbishop of Uyo. Sir Victor Etefia will deliver the Welcome Address to formally receive delegates and participants.
On Friday, October 17, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Oliver Ali Abba, will officially declare the Conference open. The Keynote Address will be delivered at 10:00 a.m. by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno. Additional addresses will come from the Prelate and the National President of the Council, Sir Justice Umoekoyo Essang. An Evangelical Service will follow in the evening, anchored by Reverend Elijah Ekarika.
Saturday, October 18, will feature the Council’s Annual General Meeting, adoption of reports, and elections of new national officers. The Ladies’ Assembly will also hold an empowerment programme for widows and indigent Church members, in line with its mission of compassion and service.
The day will climax with a Gala and Awards Night at Ceedapeg Hotel, Uyo, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The event will be chaired by Hon. Unyime Idem, Member of the Federal House of Representatives. Special guests expected include Dr. Victor Antai, Executive Director (Projects), NDDC, and former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Nsima Ekere. Awards will be presented to individuals and chapters for outstanding service to the Church and community.
The four-day conference will conclude on Sunday, October 19, with a Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral. Knights and Ladies will rededicate themselves to the values of service, holiness, and Christian leadership.
Organizers described the gathering as a renewed call to faithful leadership and transformative service — a moment for introspection, unity, and recommitment to the Methodist ideals of holiness, humility, and hard work.
