IGP Egbetokun Decorates Newly Promoted Senior Police Officers in Abuja

Abuja, Nigeria — The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, on Wednesday decorated newly promoted senior police officers with their new ranks in a ceremony marked by celebration and pride at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the decoration ceremony underscored the IGP’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding hard work, diligence, and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

The promotion exercise saw the elevation of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), four Commissioners of Police (CP) to AIGs, and eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs).

Among those decorated were DIG Mohammed Dankwara; AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba Nzukwen; as well as CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal, among others.

In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to uphold the highest ethical standards in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized the importance of community-oriented and intelligence-led policing, while encouraging the use of innovative strategies to keep the Force ahead of emerging security threats.

The IGP further reiterated the Force leadership’s dedication to fostering professionalism, discipline, and merit-based advancement, aimed at building a more efficient and citizen-focused police institution.
