Abuja, Nigeria — The newly appointed Service Chiefs have appeared before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee for screening on Friday.
The exercise, which was held behind closed doors, was conducted by the committee chaired by Hon. Babajimi Benson, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence.
The Service Chiefs’ appearance before the House Committee follows their earlier confirmation by the Senate, during which lawmakers grilled the nominees on their strategies to strengthen national security, combat insurgency, and reform the armed forces.
It will be recalled that President Bola Tinubu recently approved changes in the hierarchy of the military leadership, appointing General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.
The screening marks another step in the ongoing effort by the Tinubu administration to reposition the nation’s security architecture amid persistent security challenges across the country.
