Wike Blames Opposition for Claims of Christian Killings; Obi Flags Leadership Concerns

Abuja — Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has accused opposition parties of politicizing claims that Christians are being killed in Nigeria.

Speaking during a television interview, Wike described the allegations as “politics too far.” He, however, declined to name any opposition leader or provide further details, adding that the killings of Nigerians in any part of the country are a source of concern for all leaders.

In a related development, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi attributed the United States’ recent designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) to a lack of competent and committed leadership, as well as poor deployment of available resources.

Obi, in a post on X, warned that the US pronouncement, which includes the possibility of military action, should be a matter of serious concern for all well-meaning Nigerians.
