Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has received a security briefing from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on the current security situation in the North-East region.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marked the first official engagement between the President and the newly appointed army chief since his decoration.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Lieutenant General Shaibu said he had recently undertaken an on-the-spot assessment of military operations in the North-East to evaluate the progress of troops in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency.
President Tinubu, while addressing the army chief and his team, urged them to carry out their duties with renewed patriotism and commitment, stressing that Nigerians are eager to experience lasting peace and expect tangible results rather than excuses.
The President further advised the security agencies to strengthen collaboration and leverage modern technology to decisively defeat terrorists and restore stability across the country.
