Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has said that despite the conviction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, efforts are ongoing to secure his release through a political solution.
Kalu expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will give favourable consideration to persistent appeals from notable Igbo leaders who have continued to call for Kanu’s freedom. He noted that the President has shown openness to dialogue and reconciliation, adding that he does not believe Tinubu would oppose a well-structured political intervention.
The Deputy Speaker urged residents of the South East and Nigerians at large to remain calm and hopeful, assuring them that “all hope is not lost.”
He reiterated that the political approach being pursued is aimed at fostering peace, unity, and stability in the region.
