El-Rufai Joins ADC After Formal Exit From APC

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major shift in his political trajectory months after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-Rufai completed his registration at the ADC office in U/Sarki Ward, Kaduna State, where he was issued his membership card, signalling his full integration into the party.

His move comes after his March 10 resignation from the APC, in which he stated that the party had strayed from the ideals on which it was founded. In his resignation letter, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory said he could no longer remain in a party he believed had abandoned the principles of internal democracy, responsiveness, and progressive governance.

Reports at the time indicated that El-Rufai accused the APC leadership of drifting from its original mission, stressing that the party had become unresponsive to concerns raised by members and no longer represented the progressive values it once championed.

El-Rufai’s entry into the ADC is expected to reshape political calculations within Kaduna State and potentially at the national level as the 2027 election cycle approaches.
