Gov Umo Eno Reopens Remodeled Ibom Plaza, Promises Enhanced Security and Tourism Boost

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has officially reopened the remodeled Ibom Plaza, restoring the facility as a premier recreational and tourist hub after years of neglect and misuse.

Speaking at the reopening ceremony, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining the Plaza in its renewed state for the benefit of residents and visitors. He also disclosed plans to further beautify the Uyo city centre, including the construction of an overhead bridge around the Plaza.

To safeguard the facility, the Governor announced a comprehensive security strategy, which includes a newly built police station within the Plaza and permanent deployment of patrol vehicles to ensure safety and curb criminal activities.

Earlier, Chairman of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Anietie Ekah, commended the Governor for fulfilling his campaign promise to restore the Plaza. The State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, also praised the government for providing patrol vehicles and a fully equipped police post, assuring of sustained security in the area.

In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Anietie Udofia, described the project as a major boost to the state’s tourism sector.

The remodeled Ibom Plaza now features improved lighting, a large LED screen, a Citizens and Information Centre, an arts gallery, and enhanced security facilities.
