The Nigeria Police Force has put on hold its plan to enforce the ban on tinted vehicle glass, originally scheduled to take effect from today, January 2, 2026, until further notice.
The suspension follows an interim court order issued on December 17, 2025, restraining the police from implementing the enforcement plan.
In strict compliance with the court order, the Police have announced that the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy is suspended nationwide, pending the court’s final decision.
The Police Public Relations Officer emphasized that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, remains committed to upholding the rule of law while executing the Force’s primary mandate of protecting lives and property.
He added that the Nigeria Police will continue to employ lawful, intelligence-driven strategies to address security challenges and ensure public safety across the country.
