Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has signed the 1.584 Trillion Naira 2026 People’s Budget of Expansion and Growth into law.
Of the total budget size, 416.594 billion naira, representing 24 per cent, is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦1.167 trillion naira representing 76 per cent, is devoted to capital projects.
The budget-signing ceremony took place during an enlarged State Executive Council meeting at the EXCO Chambers, Government House, Uyo, with the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in attendance, led by the Speaker, Elder Udeme Otong.
Governor Eno commended the synergy between the Executive , Legislature and the Judiciary noting that the collaborative relationship accounted for the numerous achievements recorded by the State Government in the previous year. The Governor charged members of the State Executive Council to demonstrate total commitment and passion in service delivery, warning that excuses for non-performance would not be tolerated in 2026.
Government house correspondent Jane Uwa reports that Earlier, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong, had praised the Governor for transparency and inclusive governance, affirming the Legislature’s readiness to sustain collaboration with the Executive.
