The maiden 2026 Abak All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus meeting was held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with members passing a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
The caucus also unanimously resolved to mobilise, campaign, and vote massively for the trio in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement jointly signed by the APC Chapter Chairman of Abak, Ofonmbuk Anaka, the Secretary, Augustine Edem, and the Publicity Secretary, Udeme Nkanta, and endorsed by both old and new caucus members from Abak extraction, the meeting—convened under Article 12(14) of the APC Constitution (as amended)—called for integration and a harmonious working relationship among all party members and government officials in the local government area.
The caucus pledged to work assiduously to ensure that eligible voters in Abak take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), with the aim of increasing, and possibly tripling, APC votes in 2027.
Members also commended Governor Umo Eno for the cordial relationship between his administration and the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, as well as other appointees from Abak. They noted that the collaboration has resulted in several life-touching projects and empowerment initiatives that have positively impacted the people of Abak.
The statement called for peace, unity, and progress among party faithful in Abak Local Government Area, warning members against actions capable of undermining the growth, stability, and progress of the party. It further urged APC members to respect Abak sons and daughters holding elective offices or appointments at the local, state, and national levels.
The caucus also advised the people of Abak to disregard any document or agreement outside the APC framework concerning the zoning of elective offices, stressing that such documents are not binding on the party and have no effect on APC members.
The caucus expressed appreciation to all Abak sons and daughters for their continued support for the party and called for sustained solidarity in the year ahead as the APC prepares for its forthcoming congresses ahead of the 2027 elections.
