The Rivers State House of Assembly says it has successfully served an impeachment notice on Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.
Recall that the Assembly, during an emergency plenary session, initiated impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy.
A total of 26 lawmakers accused Governor Fubara of acts of misconduct, which they described as capable of undermining democracy in the state.
The impeachment notice, addressed to the governor, was reportedly endorsed by at least 19 members of the House and outlined eight allegations of gross misconduct against the governor and his administration.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the Rivers State House of Assembly confirmed that the impeachment notice had been successfully served on the governor.
