The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cautioned the public against a false report circulating online that claims the Commission has released the timetable for the 2027 General Elections.
In a statement issued through its official communication channels, INEC described the purported timetable as fake and unauthentic, urging Nigerians to disregard the information in its entirety. The Commission emphasized that no official timetable for the 2027 polls has been released.
INEC further advised political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and other stakeholders to rely solely on verified INEC platforms for accurate and official information regarding electoral activities.
Meanwhile, the Commission has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to INEC, eligible voters are expected to collect their PVCs at their respective registration wards from January 22 to January 26.
The collection exercise will run daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., as the Commission continues preparations to ensure a smooth electoral process in the FCT.
