Kano, Nigeria — Governor Abba Yusuf has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political shift ahead of the next general elections.
Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling APC during a formal ceremony held at the Kano State Government House. He was received into the party by senior APC leaders, including former National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin, and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Yusuf Ata, alongside other top party officials.
In his remarks at the event, Governor Yusuf said his decision to rejoin the APC was motivated by the desire to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, in order to accelerate development across Kano State.
Yusuf was elected governor in 2023 on the platform of the NNPP before his return to the Apc.
