Nigerian musician, Mayorkun, has revealed that his former record label boss, Davido, played a crucial role in helping him secure his current deal with Sony Music Africa.
The singer made the disclosure during a recent interview, clarifying long-standing assumptions about the nature of his exit from Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), the label he joined in 2016.
Mayorkun, who parted ways with DMW in 2021, was widely believed to have had a falling-out with Davido following the transition. However, he has now put such speculations to rest, stating that Davido was instrumental in facilitating the Sony Music Africa agreement.
The revelation sheds new light on the nature of their relationship, suggesting continued mutual respect and support despite the end of their professional partnership.
