Opposition figure Peter Obi has confirmed he will run for president in 2027, dismissing rumours of being Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.
“I’m going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified for it,” the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate said on Sunday Politics.
Asked if he would consider being Atiku’s running mate, Obi responded: “This is not in play. Nobody has ever discussed that with me.”
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, while remaining active in the ADC-led opposition coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
“I’m part of the coalition that will produce a president with the capacity and compassion to save this country,” he said.
