The people of Iwere and Ikpanya Clans in Ini and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas have expressed profound appreciation to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for awarding and mobilising a contractor for the construction of the Ukpakon–Okpoto–Ikpanya Road, a critical route linking the two LGAs.
Their gratitude was conveyed during a community engagement and inspection visit to the project site on Friday, July 18th, 2025, led by Engr. Uwem Okoko, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hensek Integrated Services, the construction firm handling the project.
Speaking during the visit, Emmanuel Bassey, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, described the Governor’s intervention as timely and strategic. He noted that the road had for years posed immense hardship to residents, particularly during the rainy season.
“The Governor’s swift mobilisation of Hensek shows sincerity and political will. This is real commitment to grassroots development,” Bassey stated.
Also speaking, the Clan Head of Iwere, His Royal Highness Obong Friday Ekikor, commended Governor Eno for fulfilling his promise to the people. He offered prayers for the success of the project and hailed the Governor’s focus on rural connectivity.
The communities also praised their son, Emmanuel Bassey, for his consistent advocacy, describing him as “a true bridge between the people and the government.”
Additionally, residents applauded Hensek Integrated Services for its track record in delivering quality infrastructure. They expressed confidence in the company’s ability to deliver a durable road and pledged full community support to ensure smooth execution of the project.
The Ukpakon–Okpoto–Ikpanya Road, once completed, is expected to boost inter-community access, improve agricultural productivity, and enhance socio-economic development across the region.
