Super Falcons Defeat Banyana Banyana to Reach WAFCON 2024 Final

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have advanced to the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a hard-fought 2-1 win over defending champions South Africa in a thrilling semi-final encounter.

Although South Africa enjoyed more of the ball with 55 percent possession against Nigeria’s 45, it was the Falcons who showed greater precision, recording seven shots on target compared to the Banyana Banyana’s three.

With this victory, Nigeria, the tournament’s record nine-time champions, now await the outcome of the second semi-final between hosts Morocco and Ghana’s Black Queens to determine their opponents in the final, scheduled for Saturday, July 26th.
