ADC chieftain dismisses fake resignation letter, calls it a malicious attempt to cause confusion

Former Gombe governorship candidate under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 general elections, Nafiu Bala, has firmly denied claims of his resignation from the party, describing a circulating resignation letter as entirely fake and malicious.

In a statement personally signed on Friday, Bala dismissed the letter dated 18 May 2025 as a fabrication orchestrated by individuals within and outside the party to sow confusion.

He said, “I am writing to address a matter of utmost importance that has recently surfaced in the public domain—a fabricated letter of resignation purportedly authored by me, Nafiu Bala, dated 18 May 2025. This document, circulated by certain mischievous elements, is entirely false and without merit.”

Bala insisted he remains the Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, stating that the timing and content of the letter are not only misleading but filled with contradictions that cast doubt on its credibility.

He further cited a 2 July 2025 event at the Yar’Adua Conference Center in Abuja, where his predecessor, Ralph Nwosu, formally announced his own resignation and publicly clarified Bala’s continued role in the party. “In his address to the global media, he made a specific mention of my status, stating, ‘Nafiu Bala did not resign as the Deputy National Chairman,’” he noted.

Bala also pointed out several inconsistencies between the forged document and his official correspondence, stressing that the forged letter fails to reflect his writing style or format, further exposing it as a deliberate attempt to mislead.
