The Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the process for the screening and payment of outstanding contributory pensions to beneficiaries under the Itu Local Education Committee (LEC).
In a public service announcement signed by the State Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, and made available to TangSio News, the exercise is scheduled to hold today, Monday, 11 August 2025, at St. Benedict School, Akon Itam, in Itu Local Government Area. The screening will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Beneficiaries have been directed to attend the exercise with all their service records and other valid means of identification. Elder Essien emphasised that the process is part of the government’s efforts to clear outstanding pension arrears and address the welfare of retired personnel in the education sector.
The announcement, dated Friday, 8 August 2025, also disclosed that a separate date will be communicated for the screening of next-of-kins of deceased staff from the Itu LEC, to ensure that all eligible persons receive their entitlements.
This move aligns with the state government’s ongoing commitment to fulfilling its obligations to retirees and their families across all local education committees in Akwa Ibom State.
