Fire Incident at Abuja Federal Secretariat Under Investigation

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has ordered a thorough investigation into the fire outbreak that affected part of the Federal Secretariat Complex Phase II in Abuja.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, prompted an immediate response from emergency services and led to the evacuation of staff from the affected section of the building.

Speaking after conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the scene, Walson-Jack said the investigation would focus on determining the immediate cause of the fire and assessing the structural integrity of the building to prevent a recurrence.

She commended the swift response of personnel from the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders, noting that their timely intervention helped contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the complex.

According to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, all staff members on the affected floor were safely evacuated and no casualties were recorded during the incident.

Walson-Jack added that precautionary measures have been put in place to secure the affected section of the building while officials carry out a comprehensive assessment to determine the extent of the damage to property.
