President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has pledged to prioritise investors applying with N50,000 and below in the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO), as the company seeks to broaden Nigerians’ participation in the ownership of the facility.
Dangote made the declaration during the final leg of the refinery’s nationwide IPO roadshow in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where investors, financial experts, business leaders and other stakeholders gathered to discuss the offering and its wider economic implications.
“We will prioritise people with N50,000 and below,” Dangote said, stressing the Group’s intention to make the share offer more accessible to small-scale investors.
He described the IPO as an opportunity for Nigerians to become shareholders in a major industrial project built in the country, noting that African and international investors had already committed substantial capital to the refinery.
According to Dangote, wider Nigerian ownership of the refinery would allow citizens to participate directly in an enterprise creating jobs, supporting industrial development and contributing to economic growth.
He also encouraged prospective investors to take a long-term approach to the investment, saying broader participation in the capital market could promote wealth creation, portfolio diversification and a stronger savings and investment culture.
At the Port Harcourt event, economist Bismarck Rewane highlighted the economic potential of the South-South region and said the IPO could help deepen Nigeria’s capital market by encouraging more citizens to participate in wealth creation.
Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, Muda Yusuf, also said the refinery’s impact extends beyond petroleum processing, with potential benefits for petrochemicals, manufacturing, packaging, logistics and other downstream industries.
Yusuf emphasised the importance of policy consistency, regulatory stability and a predictable business environment in attracting long-term investment and supporting industrial expansion.
The Port Harcourt engagement marked the conclusion of the nationwide IPO roadshow, which was organised to increase awareness of the offer and encourage broader participation from Nigerians.
Prospective investors have been advised to review the official terms of the IPO, including its valuation, eligibility requirements and allocation procedures, before making investment decisions.
