Federal Government Declares Two-Day Public Holiday for Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, extended warm greetings and congratulations to Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan.

He urged Muslims to sustain the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during the fasting period.

The minister also called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of the nation.
